Computer Maintenance Management systems (CMMs) in mining machinery and equipment exploitation as well as management of constant company activity have been successfully applied in various industrial areas. There is a real possibility of introduction and practical application of these tools in mining companies (coal mines). The introduction of CMM system in coal mines should secure the constant activity of the machinery and equipment resulting in reduction of exploitation costs as a results of prolonged working time of these devices.

The paper describes basis of the model for reliability analysis of probabilistically homogenous offshore structures bearings. Three types of damages were considered: permanent plastic strain, fatigue crack and local instability. Specifically, features and limits of ability areas were proposed and determined. In this article was also investigated the influence of variation of element properties as an effect of cyclic loading action

The article presents selected regulations and requirements responding to the needs of the market in the scope of managing safety in the logistic chain with particular consideration of marine transport and seaports. Based on conducted qualitative research by the method of deepened interview, there has been described the only, so far, case of using and implementing the certificated standard of ensuring safety in the global supply management chain according to ISO 28000. It was found that the quantification of risk is a process extremely difficult, since it relates to future events, the estimation is carried out in a situation of limited access to certain information, and is associated with subjective opinion and use the experience and knowledge of the evaluator

The purpose of this article is to estimate social awareness of personal safety danger of traffic participants and to estimate the sense of motor threats for the environment. It describes the results of public opinion poll over the individual troublesomeness and motor threats estimate on the young group of people on example of Lublin Province area and comparatively, of Riga City

In recent years problem of environmental management system is arousing interest in organizations. It is result from more and more managers interest of efficient environmental performance evaluation and prevention of pollution. Therefore this article discussed basic environmental management system requirements according to ISO 14001. The paper tries to determine the impact of environmental systems or programs on improvement of environmental management system according to ISO 14001

The article presents the subject of the information security management system (ISMS) and it concentrates on the key aspect – the methods of estimating the risk. There are the risk, assessing the risk and risk management definitions in the first part The review of the methods of estimating the risk was executed then. The selection of the method, to find the most adequate to the organization is the main problem in practical aspect of designing and implementing ISMS. It is really basis to designing solutions and controls to protect information in a system way

The purpose of the paper has been pointing out the ballast waters donor ports which for the Police harbour are of the highest risk category as far as transmitting living alien species is concerned. The species when encountering similar environmental conditions become risk to the local species as food competitors treating the local species as food and expanding in an invasive way and spreading formerly unknown diseases to the local environment. Moreover, they become dangerous to human health as well as hinder the economy development by reducing fish resources, growing on hydro-technical constructions etc

The article presents comparison of Order Tracking and Autotracking methods of vibration signals analyses for assessing a technical condition of the rotors system of marine gas turbine engines. Results of tests were registered in run-up and shut-down processes of the turning of rotors system. Comparisons of results enable to present conclusions for application both methods for diagnosing marine gas turbine engines DR type in non-steady states

Joint alloplastics is one of the domains intensifying biomedical engineering development. Last decades show unabated activity towards increase of implant durability. Material restrictions force the search for new solutions. In this work the conception of new hip joint cap with metallic porous layer is presented. The idea based on self-lubricating bearing should ensure favourable conditions and minimize wear of co-working elements. Numeric analysis of the lubricating fluid flow in porous layer has been taken as well as verifying experimental research on hip joint friction simulator. Obtained results confirmed the fairness of the admitted assumptions. The fluid flow in porous cap ensures good lubrication of sliding layers and decrease wear of elements

The development of biotechnology has essential influence on obtaining new varieties of plants commonly grown in the world for consumption and as raw materials for the feed industry. The application of new techniques permits modifying plants as regards the quality and quantity content of raw materials and products obtained from them

The article describes the project creating Polish Navy patches in the period 1997–1999. They were designed and directed immediately to crews of vessels and shipborne forces consist of auxiliary vessels, cutters and motorboats, etc. Author starts with information about Polish military traditions concerning military badges and sources of the patches idea. The next part presents history of project realization and stress the effects. Part of the patches was adopted by crews and became official element of seaman‟s uniform. The patches were in use only for two years and therefore it is rather unknown details of Polish Navy history

This article is an introduction to the analysis of human reliability in specific anthropotechnic systems, such as marine power plants. The human factor is discussed as one that is responsible for creating dangerous situations during the operation of offshore technical objects, mainly sea-going vessels. Besides, we indicate the place of a human being in marine technical systems, his specific qualities and interaction with the environment. Selected classifications of human errors are given as well as their particular causes. Then we present a model of an autonomous system referring to the human being, based on Mazur’s concept. Besides, potential fault nodes resulting from that model are specified. We show examples of quality and quantity models that are helpful in an analysis of the reliability of the human, an element of such technical systems as marine power plants. Final remarks include possible applications of mathematical models herein presented in analyses as well as some restrictions in the use of these models. Emphasis has been put on essential difficulties in utilizing simulators for the examination of the reliability of the human considered as the operator of a marine power plant. These difficulties are due to a variety of interactions within the system (the vessel) and relations with the external environment

In the paper are presented the results of exhaust gas scavenging testing for the start-up speed. The speed of SB-3.1 engine was determined by means of external driving device composed of a three-phase motor, gearbox, unidirectional clutch and control desk. The obtained findings allowed evaluation of the character of changes in the course of exhaust gas scavenging curve from a basically zero speed to the rotational speed of engine crankshaft at which the start-up takes place. Exhaust gas scavenging measurements were made in different measuring series in order to determine the effect of oil film development on cylinder bearing surface on the phenomenon of exhaust gas scavenging into crankshaft casing
