This paper presents assessment methods for machinery emitting optical radiation. The method is based on described in standard PN-EN 12198 Part 1 and 2 measurements of ultraviolet, visible or infrared radiation parameters. The results of the measurements determine category of radiation emission for certain machinery. Then the example machineries where technological processes use ultraviolet, visible or infrared radiation are presente

This paper presents some chosen results of the research conducted in the region of Łódź at the end of 2009 and at the beginning of 2010 which referred to the issues connected with the assessment of vocational risk as the main aspect of accident prevention and health prophylaxis. The analysis was carried out in the division into three groups of respondents: small enterprises, medium-sized enterprises and large enterprises. In this paper its authors are trying to answer a question what the level of abnormalities in all 200 examined enterprises is and what this level is in each of the groups separately

The economic-mathematical model of the sustainability and predictability of the transportation system and the sea ports was considered as a single model encompassing those related to the financial sustainability and predictability of the enterprises. The author substantiated the expediency of creating the models by way of the logical probability simulation. 10 indexes were suggested for the evaluation of the financial standing of individual enterprises and the entire transportation system, with the method of golden section to be applied for the determination of the appropriate regulatory value thereof. The scenario-based tentative calculations were made and the results analyzed. The author proved that the logical probability simulation makes it possible to create an economic mechanism of striking a balance between the volume of traffic and the Budget payments with no administrative control

The article deals with examples of thermography use (thermovisual measurements) to find out the technical state of belt conveyors and their equipment in open-pit mines. The measurements themselves are part of the grant project MPO FR-T11/537 “The Complex Diagnostic System for Belt Transportation”, basic output of which is a prototype of a diagnostic system on a model belt conveyor and prepared, certified and diagnostic services. All measurements are and will be verified as in situ measurements

This article took problems about social and cultural aspect of quality management in industrial companies. This article contains theoretical considerations about idea of quality and culture of quality. In this elaboration quoted results which were carried out in thirty-one industrial companies. The results were presented in set of twenty criteria, which were taken as a tests of the quality management level. As we can notice from the tests, the most controversial and concern criteria is the level of staff motivation to realize their duties, what is the most basic condition of quality understood as fulfillment of the requirements. Generally, the level of quality management in companies was rated rather positively, the average rate of all criteria in all companies is 4.09 (four comma zero nine) in scale from 1 to 5 (one to five)

W artykule opisano dwa przypadki uszkodzeń dźwignika hakowego kontenerowego, które miały różne przyczyny, lecz doprowadziły do powstania takiego samego obrazu szkód. Wskazano, jakie czynniki mogą doprowadzić do ich powstania, a także, które rozwiązanie techniczne w układzie hydraulicznym powoduje powiększenie skali uszkodzeń

The article focused on the role of quality control methods in designing and production processes, on the example of the automotive company, in providing a product’s parameters in accordance with a client’s requirements. Methods and tools used in a process of production, which are instruments controlling and diagnosing quality during production, were analyzed. Much attention was paid to SPC methods that statistically describe a production process

Contemporary enterprises when making business decisions must take many aspects into consideration. Many of them are of economic and legal nature, but some regard to environment issues. Ecology is an important factor taken into account when judging and positioning companies, and therefore owners and other stakeholders expect information about these aspects of business’ operations. Environment reporting is an important element of social accounting, which is linked to the idea of a sustainable development of enterprises

On the basis of the conducted investigations and analysis of the hard coal quality assurance process, it has been found that new IT tools need to be introduced to support the process. The study presents a system developed by the authors, which has been implemented in hard coal mines to support product quality improvement

In the article research analyzing the level of the economic knowledge of adult Poles was described. Analyzing both subjective, measured with the scale of self-assessment and objective, through the test of message, aspect of the knowledge to economic themes. The test included three groups of issues: 1) acquaintance of current economic indicators and selected public charges, 2) define basic economic notions, 3) understand the relation between individual economic phenomena. Obtained data shows, that the examined group of adult Poles has on the average level knowledge, however not-allowing to full understand principles of free economy market functioning

This article presents a mathematical model of the fuel flow turbulisation processes in fuel tubular injectors channels of compression ignition engines. As turbulisator, proposed the use of two or more intersecting channels on the surface of the needle made in the form of left and right threads. The main attention was paid to the use of acoustic resistance parameter in the mathematical description of physical phenomena, which allows verification of the proposed model in laboratory studies of fuel, and retardation research of compression ignition engines

The paper presents the problem of high level of noise at workplace of operators of earthmoving machines and the problem of noise emitted by these machines to the environment. The paper presents also the basic information concerning the administrative methods of noise control like EU directives and regulations of the Polish authorities concerning noise level at workplace and the noise emitted to the environment. This paper shows the results of experiments on use of acoustic screens to lower the noise levels emitted during small earth moving machines operations. A significant damage of acoustic climate during road works was proven

In Polish conditions, one of the types of investments which bring financial benefits for the investor and also reduce the load of the environment is thermal insulation. This article shows how to make an evaluation of sample of investment, which is the thermal insulation of the exterior boundary walls, from the financial side. Indicators to assess the investment in ecological terms, using life cycle assessment LCA are also proposed. An analysis of different options depending on the thermal insulation was made. Analysis includes: properties of the exterior boundary walls against thermal insulation, the type of thermal insulation and type of heat source in the building

The operation of vessels is more and more accurately monitored and collected information allows for rationalization of decisions related to maintenance of technical assets. The article defines a universal maintenance performance indicator (UMPI) using methods of numerical taxonomy. It was reviewed the purposes of use of performance indicators (KPI – Key Performance Indicators) and suggested to apply a universal indicator, connecting different groups of information and allowing ranking of technical objects according to multicriterial evaluation of maintenance performance. There is an example of application of universal indicator, which was calculated for a hundred of technical objects recognized by the vessel’s shipowner as critical in the system of operation. The results allowed to rank objects from the best to the worst maintained according to multicriterial evaluation. It was defined the direction for further research on a universal indicator of maintenance performance

Using the example of one section of a railway line, the effect of various factors on breaks in train service has been analysed. The types, number and duration of breakdowns, as well as their influence on both passenger and goods trains service have been specified. The traffic capacity of a railway line is related to the possibility of meeting the timetable, which is therefore affected by all breaks. It is very important to know the type of breakdowns, their number and influence on a railway line capacity as well as their causes

In the paper the evaluation of applied solutions, as well as the operational parameters in context of achieved efficiency of steam cycle of a supercritical power plant was carried out. The analysis for the referred structure of a power plant was made. The thermodynamic computational model was created in GateCycle software. In the calculations, the basic assumption was the maintenance of constant gross power of power plant. For this purpose, in the model the flow of live steam entering steam cycle was changed. In the first step the assumptions for three cases of unit were determined. First of all, the variants differ from each other with live and reheated steam parameters. The parameters for the two examined cases can be regarded as possible to be currently achieved in a modern supercritical power plants, while the third case represents a perspective variant. Based on relevant data implemented into the computational model, the relevant results for quantities characterizing the operation of examined units were generated. Among others, in the analysis the values of following quantities were determined: steam cycle efficiency, gross overall efficiency and specific consumption of heat. In the paper the assumptions, as well as the results are shown in the form of tables. The conclusions from comparison of results for individual solutions are also formulate
