Some problems of troubleshooting relating to the technical state of machines by methods of identification and diagnosis are introduced. Relationships are shown be-tween methods of dynamic state evaluation and methods of operating state evaluation. Examples of the modal analysis show the complexity of problems of representing the evaluation of machine dynamic state in diagnostic examination of machine technical state.

This paper contains a description of an identification method for prismatic rubber vibration mounts of Young’s modulus and loss factor calculated on the basis of physical model narrow band transmittance for vibration mounts, which takes vibration mount mass influence into consideration.

Restricted water effects upon ship manoeuvring are investigated from the full-scale based identification viewpoint. As the resistance increase may be quite accurately corre-lated with the squat, it is proposed to store in the ship manoeuvring model kernel only data on the ship's squat. The problem of correction factors (multipliers) to be imposed upon ship added masses and hull force coefficients is raised. Different patterns (combi-nations) of the multipliers are simulated to show the most representative ship behaviour with regard to turning and zigzag manoeuvres.

Identification methods of some rheological properties of vibration mounts for vibra-tion isolation systems are presented. The identification enables simulation of nonlinear problems in vibration isolation systems in steady and transient operational states by means of the finite element method.

The present study compactly demonstrates the drigt-nondimensional yaw correlation limit a wide range of accelerated turing tests and zigzag tests based on manoeuvring simulation. Next, the problem of tracking an arbitary drift andelnondimensional yaw velocity trajectory (important in the identification of hyll hydrodynamic forces) is solved by means of two differential equations with derivatives versus drift angle. Finally, additional valuable sets of differential equations are formulated with travelled distance or heading as independent variable - most of manoeuvring commands relate to those parametrs, as to be easily observed and having both navigational and hydrodynamic singnificance.

The paper presents the drift angle - nondimensional yaw velocity diagram for various manoeuvres of a single screw ship as the basic element of the hull hydrodynamics identification, optimisation, or validation. Empty ragions in this chart are reported. An attempt is made to provide conditions for the arbitrary manoeuvring moion with an emphasis on filling these gaps by means of fore and aft birtual lateral forces.
