The following paper presents an analysis of the number of accidents, injuries and deaths over the last years. Accident trends have been identified in Poland with reference to different seasons. It includes an analysis of statistical data on both the number of vehicles, type of accidents occurring on roads and their causes. The evaluation of the road accidents’ effects has been carried out

The author takes a stance on the role of reliability of port cargo-handling facilities. An analysis has been performed of accidents during cargo-handling operations in the port of Szczecin in a five-year period, with particular consideration of accidents where cargo-handling facilities were involved. An example of the port of Szczecin is given in determining the share of accidents caused by failure of cargo-handling facilities.
