The article presents a simulator for testing the operation of automatic systems
controlling ship's movement in situations where a collision is a real threat, particularly
in poor hydro-meteorological conditions. The goal of the presented system
is to support the navigator in decision making, with possible full replacement of
his work in the future. Discussed is a method of determining a safe trajectory for
the ship, and controlling its movement along this trajectory.
