Computer Maintenance Management systems (CMMs) in mining machinery and equipment exploitation as well as management of constant company activity have been successfully applied in various industrial areas. There is a real possibility of introduction and practical application of these tools in mining companies (coal mines). The introduction of CMM system in coal mines should secure the constant activity of the machinery and equipment resulting in reduction of exploitation costs as a results of prolonged working time of these devices.

During recent years computer maintenance management systems in enterprises have been changing significantly. These systems were successfully applied to many branches of industry. It seems to be inevitable to implement these systems for ship maintenance. When maintenance management systems are implemented it makes it pos-sible to optimise the following: inventory management, delivery management, outsourc-ing and maintenance tasks, what affects the economical effects of enterprise.
