    The paper describes micromilling machine and implemented sensor system for microcutting operations. Sensor system can be used for cutting forces, accelerations, acoustic pressure and tool displacements measurement. Cutting forces and accelerations signals were used for cutting depth, hardness of workpiece and excitation frequency of rotating tool monitoring. Other signals obtained during experiment will be used in further work. Conclusions arising from performed experiment and further research plans are presente

    The interviews conducted with the drivers and analysis of possible sources of collisions and accidents show that at night, on unlit areas, truck drivers towing trailers or semitrailers have insufficient observation area around the vehicle. This insufficient amount of information reaching the driver is the cause of many accidents and collisions. The article describes the risks associated with the lack of visibility of the area around the semitrailer and presents solutions allowing to reduce the identified risks. The solution is to use additional contour lights, and lights illuminating the road in the area, which is run over by the semi-trailer wheels. Based on the simulation studies and laboratory studies of light distribution, the appropriate lamps have been selected and installed on the trailer. Then the field tests were carried out on the real object, which confirmed the usefulness of the proposed lamps and showed that it is possible to support the vehicle driver in obtaining information from areas previously invisible

    In the paper some results of experimental works on increasing of effective and lowering of toxic parameters in Diesel engines with combustion chamber type of Ricardo Comet Mrk V. Were presented possibility of receipt of this factors is using of preliminary fuel treatment – as contact fuel with catalytic materials in a body of fuel injectors. The results of experimental works confirm the perspective of this idea

    In the polish literature there is noticeable the lack of terminology of maritime tourism and its classification. This issue has been treated rather occasionally till now, without any deeply analysis of the basic definitions and concepts. The maritime tourism is variously defined by different sectors in various conutries, it means by: geographers, planners, experts of marine sector, tour-operators or ferry and cruising companies. In this light, it seems reasonable to try to sort out the basic terms and concepts. The main aim of this article is the analysis of the existing definitions and classification proposed in the literature of Polish and foreign languages. It is also made the critical analysis of these definitions and concepts. The value added of the article is the attempt to define maritime tourism by the author. Moreover, the author shows a list of criteria that could be implemented in the statistical researches of demand in the maritime tourism sector and possible forms of maritime tourism.     Gradient procedure is suggested, which allows to fit multi-parameter theoretical model to multi-channel experimental data obtained by means of polarimetric measurements. Procedure deals with nonlinear system of differential equations that describe the evolution of an electromagnetic wave in a hot plasma and provides sufficiently fast convergence to stationary values. The procedure is illustrated with numerical calculations in the case of one and two measurement channels, that allow to retrieve two and four of plasma parameters respectively

    The paper presents the problems of negative influence of high level of noise on the workers and the possibilities of application of portable acoustic screens for the protection of workers which are around of machines. In the paper the results of experiments with application of portable acoustic screens are compared with theoretical calculations based on known methods applied for the evaluation of effectiveness of screens

    The article proposes the manner of determining ecological benefits, which result from thermo insulation of the external walls of the building. In order to assign environment load the technique of life cycle assessment LCA was used, including the division into three damage categories: human health, ecosystem quality and raw materials. The production of thermo insulating materials causes the increase of the environment load, but in the thermal phase of the building usage the negative impact on the environment is reduced due to the reduction of energy demand necessary to heat. A few dozen of thermo insulation variants were examined, depending on the kind of wall, heat source and thermo insulating material. For all cases the analyzed investment turned out to be cost effective in terms of ecological aspects. In each damage category the reduction of the environment load was obtained. The ecological payback period was obtained within 0–5 years

    The paper presents an analysis of ecological aspects of oil management in the Baltic Sea fishing fleet based on studies held as part of the project Operational Programme “Sustainable Development of the Fisheries Sector and Coastal Fishing Areas 2007–2013”. There have been proposed algorithms to the preliminary estimation of oils consumption in the fishing vessel fleet, the amount of harmful substances emitted into the atmosphere, the amount of used oils reaching the boat bilges, the quantity of hydraulic used on fishing craft

    Safety of carrying bulk cargoes is an important problem in all stages of the supply chain. At the moment, soybean seed cake is one of the many bulk cargoes, which is the best substitute of protein in the composition of fodder. During the transport, soybean seed cake is mostly under the form of loose cargo and is carried by various and specialized means of sea and overland transport. There are occurred the quality changes of soybean seed cake during the transport processes that are understood as the followed cyclical operations of warehousing, handling and transportation by various means of transport. A lot of characteristics are subject to changes. They are decisive in the nutritional value and in the susceptibility of transport, and they are determining the basic quality-creative factors in the scope of usable quality called functional quality. Maintaining of initial quality of soybean seed in transport process depends on providing the optimal condition of storage, handling and transportation. The influence of functional quality factor that means susceptibility to oxidation in relation to safety of soybean seed cake sea transport is presented. The results of researches are provided on diagrams and evaluated by statistic methods. Introduction Characteristic feature of soybean seed cake is instability of its physical properties and chemical composition. Regardless of means of transport, handling methods and construction of warehouses, the transported, handled and stored soybean seed cake is exposed to influence of exo-genetic factors. Atmospheric factors such as oxygen content in air and humidity are counted to it. These factors are affecting the transmutation courses reducing the quality of soybean seed and are dangerous in transportation processes. Under the commonly used loose form of transport and storage of bulk soybean seed and pneumatic handling, there are favourable condition for oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids that lead to local accumulation of significant amount of thermal energy, increase of temperature and creation of chemically self-heating spots.     The process of firedamps´ release into worked-out areas, which often communicate with the surface after stopping the coal mining activity is very topical problem in the region of Ostrava. Firedamps contain namely dangerous methane, which is a result of the coalification process. Contemporary findings in this area show that the outflow of firedamps into the atmosphere is above all related to barometer pressure´s development. In 1995, the realization of degassing wells was initiated in region of Slezská Ostrava. Within the fremawork of monitoring, methane concentrations, gas-air mixture amount and barometer rates are measured among others. This paper gives information about mathematic data processing originated from the monitoring unit of the degassing well used for leading of firedamps from the underground, which is situated in Slezská Ostrava region

    The article tackles the problem of evaluating the errors in production and installation of bevel gear which have impact on the transmission error. The production defect has been determined as an incorrect construction of bearing openings causing the change of angle between the axes toothed gears and installation error – as failure to meet the mounting distance of crown wheels. The tests were conducted as simulative tests mainly due to the time and cost of tests. Toothed gears were modeled as solid models and then a virtual installation and a single flank testing were conducted. As a result, data about the positions of angular toothed gears were received on the basis of which the transmission error was calculated. This error reflects the constancy of the driven shaft’s rotational speed and thus it is associated with the gear’s vibration and acoustic activity

    The article discusses the influence of those environmental conditions on the human being that may cause sea sickness. Different indexes describing motion sickness are presented. Besides, a mathematical inter-relation describing the effect of waves and design parameters on the motion sickness incidence index is described.     The paper shows a necessity to consider the processes of load on and wear of tribological systems in Diesel engines (and therefore the changes in their states) in real conditions as random processes. This means that mathematical models for these processes can be random functions with an argument which is time (t) and with values which are random variables such as loads and wear of particular tribological systems. The load properties for the tribological systems have been presented as the main causes of their failures. It has been signaled that a stochastic dependence should be expected between mechanical load and thermal load, whose the intensity (force) can be defined by Czuprow’s convergence coefficient. A proposal has been submitted to accept that the tribological system load in Diesel engines is a stationary process with asymptotically independent increments. The reasons for this proposal have been presented in the form of relevant hypotheses and an exemplary graph of changes in pressure and temperature in an engine cylinder under operation. Also it has been signaled that the models of wear processes in tribological systems may be stochastic processes with special properties called semi-Markov processes.     The paper is an attempt to determine the assumptions for the development of working conditions including the needs of people with disabilities and the elderly. The basis for the development of assumptions were the experiences in the field of analysis of working conditions, mainly in health units and shaping of public space through innovative non-discriminatory solutions. Three main areas have been presented in the article, in which the transfer of knowledge may be acquired during the study: the area of ergonomics (ERG), the area of accessibility of work space with the relation of freedom in mobility and safety (SPA), and the area of information availability (INF). The considerations included in the article apply in the concept of Design for All (DFA), which is the one of the pillars of European Union directives, entitled European act on the availability, being a respond to the demographic challenge by increasing participation in the labour market and society for all

    In the article ship’s three-phase power networks with variable, asymmetrical and non-linear load to compensate for the non-active components of power more and more often used active filters are presented. Getting high energy performance of active filter depends of the control algorithm. In this article ship power networks with the new algorithm calculating the active, reactive and unbalanced components to control active filter are described. Study was carried out on virtual model, implemented in the environment “Matlab- -Simulink”

    Terrestrial navigation is one of the method of parametric navigation, i.e. a method of fix determination. Recently the method has become quite common again thanks to automated measurements of navigational parameters (radar navigation, radio direction finders and others) and connection with the ECDIS. The accuracy of position coordinates determined by such method is affected by navigational measurement errors and the accuracy of navigational mark coordinates used for position determination. The coordinates values are obtained from nautical publications (including charted data) or from an electronic chart data base. This article presents an original method for an analysis of how the accuracy of navigational mark coordinates affects the accuracy of ship’s fix. Considerations are supplemented with an example of the most common terrestrial position determination in marine navigation

    A method for assessing the impact of low water in the fairway on the movement of ships in the rivers and canals is shown in the work. The growth speed of the ship breaks down the river (channel), the territory of the area. It is important that when the motion is regular. This paper is an analysis of this problem.

    In this paper, a Nd:YAG laser was used to generate micropores on SiC surface and the structure and morphology features of surface micropores were observed. Tribological experiments were conducted with pin-on-disc tester under various loads and speeds. The article concentrates on identification of friction processes and also attempts to find a correlation between surface energy, friction force and topography of surface with geometrical texture

    The article justifies the need to analyse diagnostic relations for turbocharger operation purposes. Types of turbochargers most frequently used in modern marine engines have been presented. Turbocharger decomposition has been conducted on a selected example. The influence of typical inefficiencies in respect to symptom value changes has been worked out for each heat engine and sub-system. Validation of selected cause and effect relations has been based on operational experience in the technical scale
